CatIQ Connect 2025

Herry Chen, a P4A researcher and doctoral student at the University of Waterloo, was selected as a Student Delegate at CatIQ Connect 2025. Herry presented on the Climate Resilient Retrofits team's research and the development of a comprehensive, publicly available, and searchable database of multi-hazard retrofits. The research aimed to make identifying and implementing these resilient retrofits actionable and easy to understand for the hazards of concern across Canada.

Climate Caucus–P4A Local Resiliency Webinar Series

How can we prepare our homes and buildings to be climate resilient? This is a question facing communities across Canada; but where do communities start? Partners for Action at the University of Waterloo developed a framework to understand how different types of buildings (municipal, commercial, and residential) can be adapted to better withstand eight hazards: floods (overland, coastal), extreme precipitation, extreme winds, extreme heat, wildfires, drought, snow, and ice.

In this webinar, Partner for Action researchers shared their approach to tackling this big topic of how to make buildings climate resilient for adaptation - and of what enables those retrofits. Hear examples of retrofits and initiatives that encourage their adoption, such as programs, policies, and financial incentives. This webinar is part of a series of webinars on local resiliency, co-led by Climate Caucus and Partners for Action.
